Jack: Hello, Rose. It's great you are here. I need to talk to you.

Rose: Oh, hi Jack. Why? What's the matter?

Jack: I hope you do remember it's Linda's birthday tomorrow.

Rose: Her birthday is on Wednesday.

Jack: Yes, it is. And today is…

Rose: Oh, I've clean forgotten. What are we going to do? We don't even have a present.

Jack: Don't you worry. We still have enough time to buy one. We just need to decide what to buy.

Rose: It's the hardest thing. We've known Linda for ages and we've given her so many presents already.

Jack: Yes, we need to think of something new.

Rose: It can't be clothes or perfume. Linda loves these things. And she's a true fashionista, but her taste is very changeable. She likes one thing today, but she is into something else the next day, so we may make a mistake.

Jack: I agree. So what is left?

Rose: Maybe a gift certificate? What present can be better than being given a choice? It can be a gift certificate to some clothes shop or a jewellery outlet.

Jack: I don't know. I wouldn't like such a present. It looks as if you don't care and don't want to spend time choosing a proper gift.

Rose: Well, there's a grain of truth in what you've said. So then, what are we going to buy after all, Jack?

Jack: Rose, I think I have an idea. Why don't we buy her a pet? She doesn't have any. Surely she'd be happy to get a kitten or a puppy.

Rose: No, she doesn't, because she is allergic to most pets, right?

Jack: Oh no, I've run out of ideas then. I'm lost. It's your turn to come up with something now.

Rose: Look, we can buy her a dancing mat!

Jack: A dancing mat? What is it? I've never heard of dancing mats.

Rose: It's a device which you can connect to your laptop or PC and put on some music and dance to it, and the mat shows you how to move. It shows you the steps and things like that. You can select different dancing styles and learn to dance very quickly indeed.

Jack: Yes, she is going to love it. She'll be a disco queen in a couple of months this way. That's a great idea, Rose. I hope it's not that expensive though. I'm a bit short of money at the moment.

Rose: It's affordable, I'm sure. So what are we waiting for? Let's go to the shop, shall we? I don't have any plans for today anyway.

Jack: Okay, let's go. I'm free at the moment.
