I live in a small town where there are few opportunities to learn such an exotic language as Chinese. I don't think textbooks and internet podcasts are enough to start learning such a difficult language. You still need a teacher. I hope one day I'll be able to learn Chinese because it's an exciting language, very beautiful and a great way to train your brain. I honestly don't understand why people choose to learn Chinese as a foreign language. Besides, Chinese is incredibly hard as it's composed of pictograms and semi phonetic ideograms. When I tell people that I learn Chinese they are usually very surprised because they think Chinese is a very difficult language to learn. They are even more surprised when I say it's a stereotype.
